Fringe lilies are so sweet, some of the last showy treasures in the forest in late spring.

Hyacinth orchids are putting up spikes. They flower when the heat makes the insects hum. It would usually be more dry. This year we are having rain and humidity. Uncertain how this will play out; the bushfire season may be late, but the extra growth may provide more fuel.

I love this half wild place where we live. I can’t avoid seeing the changes in the seasons. I survived one fire. How bad will the next one be?

Yes, rain and humidity are good. But eventually the hot dry weather will come and the hyacinth orchids will flower!

Yes, it’s good to see the Hyacinth Orchids coming up already!
Let’s not be deceived by the recent rain & humidity, – actually, at our place, we keep a rain gauge and record our monthly rainfall.
Last month, (November), we only recorded 45mm at our place, – which is well below the 100year average (69mm) for Christmas Hills
Our yearly average so far, is also well below average. 😧
