Almost every time I step outside, I take a deep breath and smell the air. It’s something I do almost without noticing. The petrichor scent of recent rain, the hint of distant smoke on a summer day, or the fragrant bite of pollen, all feel like nature communicating to me.

The smell of eucalyptus on the air makes me think of holidays.
I wonder how sensitive our noses are to the slightest scent of smoke.
I often go out for a sniff on a fire danger day!
